Life’s hard. Because life is hardware. We play games on the hardware phone, we pay digitally for hardware clothes, we sit and sleep on hardware, we drive and eat hardware. But most of the “innovations” attracting most of the money and hype are software – fintech, blockchain, insurtech, adtech, apps… “Hardware is hard”, they say – just like life. It’s hard to design, produce and recycle. You can’t just delete hardware like an app. And that’s a real problem – for the environment and user experience. At Heatle, we realized that 85% of home appliances and electronics are not being recycled. You wouldn’t hire 10 people to do the job of one, so why use 10 devices that could be replaced by one? Thanks to our intelligent design, Heatle devices become smarter and more versatile without buying additional electronics. Heatle is not hardware, it’s SMARTware. We believe that the future of hardware-based innovation should incorporate this mindset. Together, let’s explore some examples and ideas.
